Default Codes P2178 and P2179

2007 Cadillac CTS, 132,000 miles

I finally received a check engine light and I looked up both codes. Has anyone here had a similar experience(s) or would be knowledgeable of the cost to repair this mess?

Thanks.

There is a lean trend so most likely it's a vacuum leak. Pop hood with engine running listening for whistling or hissing sound. Least expensive would be just to correct vacuum leak. More expensive take to shop and see where diagnosis takes you. If the runs ok it could be carbon build up and fuel cleaner like BG 44K could help clean build up off valves.

Post Costs associated with a Noisy Engine Flywheel

Hi guys,

It turned out that I needed the mass air flow sensor replaced and a fuel induction decarbonization.

I'm screwed because I still have the same rattling noise--and for them to tell me that the noise is coming from the engine flywheel and that I will need transmission service. On top of that, I cannot receive the transmission fluid that I need because of this, being that I'm also at a 16% level.

Had I known that, I would have put my money into having that repaired first. The nose is mainly audible when I start and park the car, but can also be heard at low speeds. Very little is heard at high speeds.

Does anyone know what costs are associated with a noisy engine flywheel?
This car is frustrating the hell out of me.

Your help in this matter would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks.
