Default Aftermarket ambient footwell lighting

I want to add ambient lighting to my '08 CTS...didn't buy the package. I had no trouble with the overhead. Used a single LED, wired it to the backlight for the skylight shade and it works fine. Now I'd like to do the same with the footwells. What is the best source of power so they will work when the lights are on?

Default RE: Aftermarket ambient footwell lighting

OK. Here's what I did. I used three small blue LED lights purchased at PEP Boys for $5 and wired them from the sun shade back light on the overhead console. I just used a T connector from the wires and snaked the wire out from the front of the headliner, down the right post and under the dash. I used one line for both the left and right wheel wells. The LEDs draw .1 amp each so the circuit can handle it. I diffused the light to make it softer by wrapping thm in a bit of gauze and taped them into two small indentations in the footwells. They only come on when the lights are on and they provide a very nice soft glow in the evening. Total cost for all three lights about $12 including the wire and the connectors.
