@whb53, have you heard any more information from the dealership about your 2011 Cadillac CTS?

Michelle, The dealer just called to say they couldn't find anything wrong with the car, that it must have been a "software anomoly", and that they downloaded new software. I've been in the software industry for 30 years, and I've never heard of such a thing. The dealership can't figure out what's wrong, and is not taking responsibility for figuring this out. The dealership said there is no such thing as a corporate Cadillac rep to troubleshoot this. So, I either take a financial bath by selling this brand new CTS, or I get back on the road and take a chance that I'm driving a deathtrap. What do you suggest?

An update: The dealer returned the car to me after 4 days, saying they could not find the source of the problem, but downloaded all new software because it was "probably" a software problem. One GM district specialist told me that if the problem happens again -- and there is still a car left to look at after the car loses all power at 60 mph -- the dealer will look at it again. Another GM district specialist told me to have faith that the dealership fixed the problem even thought the dealership could not determine what the problem is. I had faith that Cadillac was selling me a car that wouldn't stop dead at 60 mph, and that's all the faith Cadillac is getting from me. I filed a complaint with the NHTSA because I'm concerned that this is happening to other Cadillac CTS's -- especially if it's an unidentifiable software problem because they're using the same software. I got rid of this 2-month car at a significant loss, but I at least have peace of mind.

Default 2011 CTS Cutting Out

Hi,

Did you ever find out what was wrong with your vehicle? I am experiencing something very similar. My car has cut out on me 4 times when making a right turn (no lights, no steering, no brakes, NO WARNING). The dealer cannot seem to recreate the issue and I am not sure what to do. I purchased the car new (December 2011), so it's not even 1 year old and it's still under warrant. I know it's been a couple of years since you've posted this, but I need some guideance. Any feedback you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

Default Engine Cutout

Hi Michelle, Cadillac Customer Service.

I recently bought a Cadillac CTS4 3.6 Coupe. I love everything about the car except for the gas mileage. I am very disturbed by what happened to WHB53. It leaves me with a very uneasy feeling. THIS IS A LIFE THREATENING PROBLEM AND UNLESS GM SOLVES IT AND A LIFE IS LOST IT WILL END UP A VERY BAD DAY FOR GM. No matter how good the dealership it is not equipped to solve this type of a problem. Nor is the factory service representative. I spent many years servicing supercomputer mainframes and am very aware of how difficult this type of problem can be It takes special equipment and engineering to find this type of intermittent problem. Passing the buck to the dealership or the factory service rep is a gamble that is likely to seriously impact GM should a life be lost. I really admire GM's revitalization and wish it nothing but the best. After all I bought a Cadillac CTS Coupe and that speaks for itself. Please please find WHB53's car and have engineering diagnose the problem.

Default 2010 CTS 3.6 Stalls

I was driving my 2010 cts and lost power almost crashed. Luckily i was able to pull into the Lexus dealership parking lot and I pondered what had happened. I put the car in park and it started up. This happened again and I put the car in neutral while still rolling and it started up. I called the dealer and asked if there was a recall for this issue and they told me no.

Hi gltucker76,

I am sorry to hear about this loss of power issue and can see how it would be concerning. Have you taken your CTS in to the dealership to be diagnosed or did you just call in? If you would like to discuss this further, please PM me your VIN, mileage, dealership, and contact information. If you cannot PM me, you can always send me an email at socialmedia@gm.com with “Attention: Austin” in the subject line.

Have a great day,

Austin J.

I have a 2012 Cadillac CTS Coupe last month in April 2014 I was at a red light, and when the light turned green I pushed the accelerator and the car moved and then stalled with traffic behind me. The car wad towed to the dealership and they called GM about a safety issue and had to replace my ECM unit. I was scared after the situation, but I had faith in GM and thought the mishap was fixed. Just recenly one month latet May 2014 my car stalled in rush hour traffic while making a left turn. I swear I thought I was gping to create or be involved in a disastrous car accident, but to my dismay I was not. Itried restarting the car and the engine viberated and shook the whole vehicle. I became afraid and shut the engine off. My car has been in the dealer for nearly one week and they're saying they cannot find the problem ( which is scarier). I am very pissed off and scareed to drive my car and my family is also afraid. I have contacted GM and spoke to a district specialist who had not been updating me as she says she will. I have contacted the National Highway Transportation Safety Admin. And have filed a complaint, I filed a complaint with the FTC and Michigan's attorney generals office. I am really mad now after reading this forum and this is an ongoing problem for several years and a recall was not released. I just want out of my lease and I am in the process of moving 1350 miles, planning on driving...forget that idea. What is GM waiting for a death of a consumer in with their Cadillac brand?
