Default '05 CTS Steering and Stabilitrac after accident

We have acquired an '05 Cadillac Cts from a relative who decided to quit making payments (on a loan my husband co-signed) after she got into an accident. She ran over something on the front, right hand side. The body shop fixed the front end, we don't know what was fixed. We found out the body shop didn't notice the rim was broken, we had that replaced. The steering is stiff. "Traction engaged" light keeps appearing on the screen. The car seems sluggish, and when slowing down, it seems like the transmission isn't running correctly. We took it to a Chev dealership and they noted this:
"scan has codes U1000 and U1016 loss of communication codes. inspected dtcs and did not find any issues. dtcs could be cause by jump starting. "

The car ran ok for a day or two, then it all started again. Stiff steering, "traction engaged."

They charged us $145 for the computer scan. Was it fixed?

We need to get this fixed, so we can sell it. Sorry if this isn't cool, car tech talk. I'm a newbie, and need some serious help! (If the car keeps acting up, I may need mental help too!)

Being car was wrecked, and after repairs you have electrical problems, you are looking at trip to Cadillac shop. What you can do on your own is to look for loose connections, ground wires, and damaged harnesses(chaffed or cut wires).

Unfortuneately problems that develope after collision are not always easy to correct. It can be caused by the crash, improper repair, or it was an unrelated failure. Using a scanner is a must in diagnosis unless there is a visible cause.(loose ground wire)
