I've had this car for over a year now and the glove box has never been opened. It's seems to be stuck shut. I've try to gently pry it a few time but I'm concerned that I'll break something. And no it's not locked. Doesn't seem to matter which way I turn the key in it. Is there a way to get to the latch from the back side or some kind of trick to hit? I've tried to hit it like the Fonz and that doesn't seem to work either. Any suggestions?

 

does the mechanism ROTATE with the key?

i guess what i am wondering is if the internal lever broke and doesnt rotate OR the box has glued itself by the edges.

My '92 has the same problem. While puling the latch forward with my left hand, I give a downward rap with my right hammerfist right about in the middle of the top of the door and it opens.

 

.. misalignment of the latch ?
