transmission trouble

Default transmission trouble

I have a 93 deville. It doesnt seem to have 1st and over drive. Is there something I can do or something I can put in the transmission to help it or patch it for a little while till I can get another one. Thank you...email is jamekait@yahoo.com

The only thing you can "put in the transmission" to solve the problem is a new shift solenoid. Classic case of a shift solenoid gone bad. I would recommend replacing BOTH shift solenoids, and the TCC(torque converter clutch) solenoid while in there. You'll need to remove the side pan/cover from the trans to access the solenoids. In order the change the TCC solenoid, you'll need to remove the pump, since a small edge of it covers the spot where the solenoid retaining clip is. The shift solenoids are easy to remove the retaining clips from.
If you pull the codes, you'll prolly have a shift solenoid code...
