I have a 02 seville and want to know if this is the oe trans-

the reason I ask is I think it was changed because of yellow writing on case like junk yard markings

I dont know if the transmission is identical to the original, but be sure it is a SALVAGE transmission or at lest the part that has the writing on it !

 

The transmission will have your VIN # stamped, or laser etched into the case somewhere. That's the best way to determine if it is original to the vehicle.
Yellow paint marker writing does not necessarily mean it is a salvage yard unit, tho it might well be. I use a yellow paint marker to "sign" my name on every one I build.
I don't have the trans unit numbers handy, but I could certainly look and see what that tag number fits. The problem with that is, the numbers may be valid for that year model Seville, so the tag, in itself, would not determine if it was original to your Seville. Look for the VIN stamp on the case. It is usually on the lower part of the case, just above the pan rail, passenger side, around the axle area. I'll look and see if I have a pic...
