How far does the oil pump drive shaft (hex)stick up from its bore toward the distributor bottom? mine comes up approx.1/4 inch and there's a washer there also taking up some of that space , I fear that it's keeping the pump from operating as I may have forced it in by not having dist. and shaft alinged correctly whean replacing... Pease help asap! thanks, cliff

 

It sounds like its a little low. Washer should be thin maybe .030 thick. If you replaced oil pump - You did install o ring on tube from pump where it goes in to block.
