2000 Deville speaker issues & aft mk install
2000 deville factory stereo. Suddenly lost all speaker output to doors and tweeters, only 4x6 in front dash is working. Is there a fuse on the radio? Any ideas? I checked every other fuse in the car. I have signal converter from a rear door speaker for RCA's and remote turn-on for a subamp. I am thinking that the signal converter messed with the system. Worked fine for one year and all of a sudden popping and static out of the rear speaker that is connected to the signal conv. Checked connections everything looks good, still no sound out of door speakers.
I am also pricing a double din install, labor prices are a joke. I have seen the post of modifying a dash kit to make it fit, but will a harness plug up to the factory stereo? I understand that I need two modules, steering wheel controlls and the other to interface with the car and factory amp. Any one attempt this with results? I really don't want to pay $1000 for just install, I will just go get an Escalade instead.
Please Help!

Hi there,
I don't think I could help a lot, but on my Escalade 2004 ESV, I have replaced the OEM radio with a KENWOOD double DIN model DNX 8820BT. Everything is ok except there is no sound.... I finally found out that the Bose Amplifier does not turn on if the radio is not the OEM one.... This is checked through the serial data 2 signal (DLC) connected to the radio AND the amplifier. So far I didn't find which interface is required to adapt the new radio to this DLC.... Maybe you have an idea.
Regards
Laurent

Wow, $1000 just for the install? Was that with the double din too? If it's just parts and labor that seems outrageous to me. Should be about $25 for the kit, $100ish for the onstar/fact amp module, $70ish for the steering wheel control module, and around $100 in labor @retail. I can't say exactly, as I don't know your area, but that's about average around here. If not going retail it will be cheaper, but not always better. What double din are you looking at getting, and what area are you in? Maybe I can recommend someone local that can take care of you a little better.
