Thm 425

Thm 425
I have a 79 eldorado with the hydra-matic tranny. I dropped the pan and the filter was just swiveling around. There is no bolt or screw that I can see that would secure the filter housing, besides the tube and O ring that go up inside the tranny. Also wondering if it is stock to have no drain plug for this tranny, here is pics of pan and the filter housing:
Also curious if someone knows how to replace the filter inside the housing.

Debris in pan appears normal, Trans pan itself needs some help, rails need straighten badly. O ring is only thing that holds filter and there is only 1 filter. Lastly trans is not THM425 it is a THM325, so be sure you have the correct filter kit.

ok, I read 425 on the side of the metal tag on the tranny and jumped to a # conclusion. It actually says --> 81 AF 4251, under the thm heading under serial # spot stamped in. I might be off on a number or letter but believe these to be accurate.
I did order the wrong filter then and I'm hesitant on picking up the gasket now for $12 when I could get a new pan with plug and gasket for $20 something online.

well the pan and gasket deal I had seen appear to be for only the 400 and 425. I did find this for the th325:
http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/rafr...?a=G-autoparts
* the link doesn't take you all the way there, but it's cadillac/eldorado/79/gas engine/transmission/filter kit
it lists parts for the tranny filter and housing part #58887, apparently they don't just sell the filter.
and it seems that part B53 would be a good deal for me because it has filter kit and gasket i think, I will have to call them if I decide to replace the filter. I cleaned it out, it was really gunked. Is there some way I can salvage the filter and housing, clean with some sort of solvent maybe, I still have the O ring. And as far as the pan rim can I just turn it over on my bench and use a mallot to flatten the rim?
I'm getting cheaper
