Default 1954 4-door - 1954 Cadillac Series 62 Sedan

New to the forum... Just got my grandpa's 1954 4-door moved to my house in Fort Collins Colorado. Just wondering if there is ANYONE on this site with a pre-'70's Cadillac?

All the chrome is there and in really good shape. There are a couple of minor dings to the exterior... nothing I can't fix. I am thinking about putting a 500 Cadillac engine in it, carb'd or FI doesn't matter. I am missing the wheel covers... those might be hard to come by. Sorry but I don't have any pictures yet.

Is this the right forum for me?

Jason

Hey Ol Caddy; Welcome aboard and hope you enjoy the site. Am presently helping a friend with his 1955 Sedan deville, it runs great but needs some TLC to bring it up to road worthy status. (brakes, exhaust, etc) What sort of things have you found on yours so far?? Mine is an 81 Fleetwood Brougham Coupe so quite a bit different from the repair point of view. Post some pics when you get a chance.

That is the one Stomper.

The color is a really light blue.

Brougham, I haven't even gotten it off the trailer yet. It has rims & flat tires on the front and NO rims/NO tires on the back. We had to cut the hood hinges (seized and bent already) to put a chain around the passenger frame rail to lift it off the ground with a loader. Then we backed the trailer underneath it and dropped it down on the trailer.

It seems like most everything is there... with the exception of the two rims, tire covers, the chrome over the rear tire opening, and the (glass) evap canister is broken. Chrome is 98% there and in decent shape. A couple of pieces need to be worked on a little bit from minor dings... no big deal. Couple of windows have some minor cracks. I haven't even begun to look at the inside. Good thing is that I have a friend that is a professional upholsterer in Omaha.

I am still really deciding where I want to go with this build. I am thinking very hard about a cratemotor 500... TF727... nine inch in the rear... air ride suspension... whitewall slicks and (if I can't find the Cadillac hubcaps) some deep dish chrome 5-spokes. Not sure if I am going to paint it the original color or go with a rat rod style paint, flat black with lots of chrome.

Sorry I can't get pics yet as the batteries inmy camera are dead.

I've had experience with the zz4 350hp (in my old el camino) wasn't quite strong enough so I added a 150 shot of nos.

Also have experience with the 572, it's a beast and I understand that they now make a racing version of this motor with over 700 hp for under 14k............

sounds like a pretty big project......good luck with it and keep us posted on the way.

Umm... Jason, are you gonna work on this Caddy before you have your Jeep ready for Moab or Ouray? Cuz that would be silly. Not that we haven't seen "silly" before with you...

Mine is the orange one, Jason's is the conestoga-looking blue one on the right.

You really in NY?I can see why it would look good to be out here, but big-city kids here for CSU tend to complain that there's "nothing to do." I grew up here, and it seems that there's plenty to do, but it's nice to head for the mountains to kick back and enjoy the beauty and serenity of it all.

This is Lake Como near Ouray, CO. no Caddys up there, but I suppose you could take an Escalade upif they have low-range. If they don't, brakes will cook coming down, and the air bags would be nice in that case.
