Emissions codes problem P0171 and P0174
Hello
I have a 2004 Sedan DeVille that won't pass emissions inspection, the codes are P0171 and P0174 which I have found mean Lean left bank and lean right bank. I assume this is the 4 cylinders left and right. It has cost me already $150 and nothing has been fixed. Does anyone know what is wrong? The car runs great and I don't notice any operational problems at all.
Thanks in advance
Rich

Thanks for the reply to my problem
The $150 covered checking for the vacuum lines for leaks, a new gas filter and something else irrellavent. You were close in your guesses. I checked for throtle body leaks and the air filter myself. After spending another $56 for diagnostic service they Isolated it to vacuum leaks most probably at the intake manifold. I would normally change the intake maniflod gasket myself but with the busy holidays etc. I allowed them to go ahead and repair. After all there is alot to disconnect to remove the intake manifold. Total cost was $362 which included the $56 diagnostic fee, $62 parts and the rest was labor and of course taxes.
