WTB: (VIN 9) Northstar Engine for 97 ETC
I was in the process of buying a Red 97 Eldo ETC with 93,000 miles. I asked them to checkover the engine because I drive 66 miles a day, seven days a week. They did a pressure test and said they blew the gaskets during the test. Now they plan to sell the car to salvage. I can buy the car at the same price the salvage yard will pay for it, but I have to pay $600 to ship the car from Kentuky to where I live in Arkansas. I'm finding engine swap labor quotes of $1,000. I'm finding used engines for $1,500. This puts the cost of the project out of my price range. Who has a (9) motor that is good and will work in the Eldo? I really want that car.

CadVetteStang, you are a smart man. IF they blew the gasket in a pressure test, you know it was ready, really ready, to go!
Also go to your local CRAIGSLIST and put a wanted add, you be surprised how many engines pop up out of the woodwork. Lately, I use that source and my needs just come to me.
Also, I had an Allante ship from TX to CA, $400 this summer, quite a gap from the original $1,100 I got the 1st time. Keep on getting quotes, the deals are out there for those that persist.

I have a 99 STS with the "9" in the s/n. It is in mint condition with about 55k miles. Does not burn a drop of oil and has great mileage. Has tranny also. I am selling the whole 99 STS fully loaded in pieces. A garbage truck broke front grille and radiator. Will sell in pieces for the right price.
