Default Install New Windshield 57 Coupe

Hi,
I purchased a 57 Coupe de Ville in 2014. Six years later I'm close to the finish line. But not really. I'm in the process of installing a new windshield. I can't seem to get the lower part of the windshield close enough to the pinch weld to pull the string get the seal over the edge and onto the pinch weld. I went by the instructions and started to pull string at the bottom center of the new windshield. Did not work. It's like the seal is too fat. Should I try and start the string pull at the top center of the windshield?

The new glass measures correctly comparing to my old removed one. I just can't get the bottom to push in close enough to the pinch weld.. it's pushing up tight against the top header?
Anybody have any special secrets to get a windshield set into a coupe opening?

Thanks for any help.
Fred

I think you can try and start the string pull at the top center of the windshield.

The glass is sitting too high. Push it down firmly while a helper presses inward from outside. Use plenty of lubricant and warm the gasket if it’s stiff. Then pull the rope slowly from the bottom center toward the corners.
