Default Toll FWYs in SoCA / LA Co, Orange Co, Riverside Co, SB Co

CalTrans has just announced that they will be charging for the privilege of driving on the "commuter" lanes
that we all paid for with bonds. The fees will be based on number of car occupants AND traffic volume.

TAKE OUT the wallet ... FWY's targeted? I-10, I-210, I-60, I-710 plus others .. as much as $1 per mile.

the article below is incomplete but it starts the mood ..
another government intrusion and reneging on agreements made with the people.

oh, some are now referring to these "commuter lanes" as "Lexus Lanes" ...

I got to say that I am going to find it hard getting to sleep worrying about the traffic on the So. California "freeways"
(forcast is for another 6 inches of snow here Tuesday night!)
Have they thought about changing the name from "freeway" to "taxway?"

Big deal in our neck of the woods is the attempt to make I-80 to a toll road. Ugh! G.A.R.Y. better get to PA. to rescue the stored '93 before you have to pay to use those wunnerful roads. (PA. turnpike has to be the worst!)

Bill,

it is a big deal. Them crooks in office and we keep voting them in.
we already PAID for the damn roads with bonds & taxes.

the roads were not built or funded by tolls, like yours in Ohio.

it is a bait and switch tactic that if a business tried it, they be sued.

to add insult to injury, about $1 / mile?
I guess the "nice" cars driven wont have to tangle with the common folk cars in the common lanes.

THE 93 see's only country roads in Bucks county...................Pa turnpike can be tough in the summer. In the winter you see lots of trucks jack-knifed and watch out for those deer crossings.

Heading west I like to take 222 and go throught Kutztown etc on the way to Reningers and Lancaster.

Happy New Year.

Actually I would rather see them as "toll" roads rather than "incentives" for Americans to purchase Japanese cars. (Hybrids)

Yes, but that was "baiting." Obviously a Californians thought of the number one Luxury car made. In other parts of the world the term would probably be "Rolls" or "Cadillac!"
