I recently purchased an 04 cts 3.6l. I knew it had an issue with the computer when I bought it. I sent it in to a place in Florida I can't remember the name atm. The guy seemed very knowledgeable. He said that he had seen this computer come through his facility substantially more than any other computer from any other vehicle. My first thought when I observed the location of the computer was that it was strange that you would mount a computer to the hottest part of the vehicle. So I asked the guy if he had any information on that and he said to his understanding that it was the location of the computer that caused them to fail. I've heard stories of people getting their computer programmed and then reinstalling it and then within a year going bad again. I do not want this to happen. So I'm brainstorming on trying to relocate my computer to a cooler area. I can't find any information online of somebody doing this in the past and whether or not it helped the situation. If anybody has any information pertaining to this topic it would be greatly appreciated if you shared. I'm going to do it regardless so I'll post an update on how it ends up and if it helps or not.
