Dead Battery and won't start

MY 96 deville had a dead battery and i charged the battery and jump started and the car will not start. at first it made the clicking noises but now it will not even click. the battery read 12.3 volt after i charged. What can it be?

Once a battery has been discharged to the point were it needs re-charging, the battery should show a minimum of 13.5 to 14 volts at a full charge. If the battery still as in your case is not at a full charge, more than likely you have a dead cell in your battery which is not allowing your battery the ability to fully charge.

Well thank you for your advise, i had the battery charged and checked the fuse under the hood and turned out that the pass key fuse which is a 30 amp burned out and disabled my started and the dead battery was also not helping the cause, but i have it is running now.
