Default 97 STS

I just bought a 97 STS. My wife drove a 2000 STS. When I say drove I mean drove it into a flood and totaled the car. We replaced it with a 2004 Deville. She loves it. I bought a 97 STS for myself. It fantastic. I was wondering if there is anything non mechanical to improve the mileage. It gets about 16 MPG. The car has 148000 miles. Do gas additives or a K&N filter really do anything?

Dont know the laws in Oklahoma, but the K&N should help some,

You are not using ethanol, are you?
if you are, expect lower mpg, much lower. it has less energy, A LOT LESS!.

a proper exhaust sytem can help,
catalytic not blocked,
new air filter,
ignition timing,
up tire pressure to 34 psi,
easy on take off, EZ ,
use Cruise Control on the Hwy, keep foot OFF pedals,
stay off truck lanes and pot holes,
make sure that the transmission is using the high gear (gear solenoids work),
keep speeds down,
roll the windows up,
empty the trunk,
take the A/C off automatic and only turn it on when you need it,
pop the hood open in darkness and see if you got lightning across anything,
use proper multi-viscosity oil,
stay OFF crappy ethanol,

additives? snake oil ...

give some of that a shot and GET BACK TO US ...
