Default 1968 cadillac problem

hi i am new to this, but my name is Matt i have a 68 Cupe DeVille convertible with the 472ci enigne. i have had it for 5 years now and love it, it is my baby. I have done many things to this car i did lost of body work trying to get rid of rust and i reupholstered the interior. i also had to have the engine rebuilt because it threw a rod but that was almost 2 years ago. i have been using it as a daily driver since.

But now to the newest problem. on my way home from work today i noticed my car was smoking. this is definitely out of the ordinary i take very good care of my car. buy anyways i pulled off as soon as i noticed, it was still running just fine but it was billowing smoke out the exhaust. at first i thought the rings might have failed. but when i took of the oil cap and placed my hand over the hole it was not blowing any oil up and did not have any outward pressure. in fact it seemed to have a suction which is odd right. what could be causing this any help would be very much appreciated thanks.

also there is oil on the carburetor but it is not being sucked through the pressure release on the valve cover to the air breather
