Trans slips when hot. motor temp runs @ 210
94' Eldorado Touring
The transmission is a problem that has gradually gotten worse with time. After the car warms up it slips out of 3rd and then out of 2nd, leaving you to drive in 1st, butifI stop and shut off the carfor a second it will drive good again for a while. What could be wrong with it? How much amI looking to spend fixing it? Another thing is that the coolant temp runs at 210 on the road. I replaced the thermo and flushed the radiator and it made no diffrence. What should it run at? what are the odds that my radiator is bad and causing my trans fluid to get to hot? Let me know....Thanks

I am going to assume you checked the transmission fluid level and made sure it is a nice red colour and not brownish or smelling burnt. Making sure the fluid is correct is about the only thing a backyard mechanic can do to an automatic transaxle.
As far as running hot, I don't think your car is running too hot. I don't know your location and conditions but I am in Canada and I see 188 to 196 on the highway and its cold here. The N* runs hotter than most engines but the HOT warningdoes not even kick in until 248. Having said that the owners manual suggests that normal operating temperatue is 180 to 200.
Any message on the dash readout, any codes?

The check engine light comes on but I havent had the codes read yet. It also has a sound when you first start the car and began to drive. like a grinding sound coming from the front. has anyone else had this problem.

This link has a lot of information. It tells you how to get the codes. To be honest, grinding sounds are a pretty good warning that you should not be driving the car.
