Default tinted tail lights

So I'm looking to tint my tail light before i put evolve tail light trim on them and I've had this ide for a while to just black out the red portion of the tail light and leave the white strip on the bottom. it looks good in my head, but things tent to not look as great as I think they will so I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this idea?

guess i would need to know what the car is.....??? also state laws may hassel you for altering tail lamps with tint, not to mention you would be reducing the light that someone coming up on you may not see. thus running into you...
