Default STS EXHAUST OPTIONS

I have a 1995 STS and I was wondering what exhaust options are there for my car?I herd that flowmaster was a decent muffler,if you remove the cat will the car be stupid loud?what have you herd on a sts or what works for your caddy?I know the corsa cat back is only for 99 and up models(witch doesn't work for my car)claims you gain almost 20 hp!!!What are the gains for other set ups? Thanks in advance for taking the time to read or reply.

I lost one of my mufflers and the car sounds mean!!!If I was to take off the other muffler and put straight pipes to the back with tips, will I lose horsepower or gain, and will it be way to loud?

You can get a custom exhaust bent up by a local shop, and use whatever mufflers you want. Around here, there are a bunch of places that will do a complete stainless system for 500, just to give you a ballpark figure of how much. personally, I think the corsa mufflers are badass.

Just my 2 cents. First, what do you hope to achieve? Do you want sound or power or both. I'm guessing power and sound. If I am right you need to get the entire stock system off. That sytem is basically a single exhaust with dual outlets. I think custom is the best way to go, Corsa, Borla whatever, they charge way too much. The problem is going to be space and state regs. If you need catalytic converters I say go with dual converters and find a good free flowing unit. Magnaflow has them, may be others. You will also need to keep the O2 sensors unless you can live with the Check Engine light, Once the converters are in place fire it up, if it is too loud then start finding a muffler that will work in the space you have. Resonators will work too and are usually smaller. Right now I am thinking the resonators from a 78 to 81 Z/28 would fit the space, low backpressure too. I'm old so we used to use the Turbo Covair mufflers which were one of the best mufflers ever offered for low backpressure and small size. I like to use OEM parts as opposed to the aftermarket. If you research it you can find the pieces you need. For example I use 1992 Bonneville mufflers on my 73 LeMans GT. These are a low backpressure unit designed for a throaty sound on a supercharged six cylinder and on my V8 they flow free and easy, and sound just great. They fit the space I have as well. Those cat back systems that give you 10 or 15 HP are just way too expensive for what you gain. If you go back to the manifolds and run a true dual you can be looking at 10 to 15 % - that's 30 to 45 Horespower! Do your research, I am sure you can design a system that will give you the power and sound you want and it won't break the bank.

Hey Cadillac Kid, let us know what you are doing on the exhaust. I love hearing about the pipes.

I also heard that flowmaster mufflers are respectable mufflers... But I will also with a cuctomized made mufflers, this way it would really fit your car by increasing its torque and HP... Not only that, you can also choose or experiment on what sound you like to go with your muffler... Goodluck!!!
