Sound System
Hey peeps.
I want to take out the stock head unit and replace it with a CD/MP3 player. I was told that if I remove the old stereo a new one would not work in its place, I would have to keep the old one hooked up in the trunk or glove box. IS this true? any suggestions would be greatly welcomed.

RE: Sound System
Hi I'm in the process of doing the same thing, my biggest obsticle was finding an adapter that would accept a new head unit. I have a 99 Eldorado, could not find one so my only other option was to have a custom adapter manufactured. I asked my local insaller the question about the original head unit. From what I've been told the OEM head unit is VIN specific and shouldn't cause a problem being replaced. I do not have ONSTAR so not sure if that would make much of a differance. I've decided to keep the OEM head unit and buy a JL Audio Clean Sweep. Check it out on JL Audio's web site. Hope this helps.
