Code i get is PCM PO741

PO741 = TCC stuck OFF.
meaning, a transmission solenoid has most likely failed or is seeing some difficulty.
solenoid costs about $50, labor about 2 days.

BUT .. before you do the shop thing.

1. CHECK transmission fluid level, engine hot, idle, on level ground. If low, fill to level.

2. clear the code and drive it to see if it stays away .. specially if fluid was low.

3. If is intermittent, try a flush, pumping the fluid out, refill and pour a bottle of Lucas Transmission fix ..

your gamble is that it costs much less than 2 days of labor above, if it works, you are all set,
if not, your back at ground zero.

Just endured the dreaded P0741 on 1998 STS with 180K miles.
I braced for the transmission overhaul option, as the tranny has a bad reputation.
The dealer found an intermittent shorting, and replaced a 10A fuse.

TCC torque converter is a big problem - hope you don't need this
