Default Plastic chunks in my oil pan; ht4100

I am at a loss as to what the light brownish/yellowish plastic chunks are in the bottom of my 83 Deville. There were enough pieces to severely plug up the oil pick up tube. I want to say nylon but I am not sure. They are molded pieces. Also, does anyone one know the standard measurement of the crank at the connecting rod? Thanks.

Pieces are very like from the cam gear for the timing chain.

I agree, save the money to replace the timing chain and cam gear. The car will quit soon! This is not an interference engine so no harm to valves, but it will just quit at whatever road speed. Second thought is prior owner replaced these parts and didnt clean out the pan. Any way to verify? does it look like the engine front cover has been removed?

The crank is undersized so someone has worked on it before. So the cam gear is plastic and the sprockets on the timing gears? Thanks.

Cam gear is powdered metal alloy with a nylon ring around it with the teeth for timing chain. It was called silent mesh when designed in the 60's. Most replacement gears are all metal. When roller lifters became the norm in modern engines during the late 80's the roller chain replaced it; which is similar to a bicycle chain.

The chain and sprocket look good so it must of been the last dipstick that worked on it . The chunks left in the pan jammed up the pickup tube.

The rod bearing surfaces look good, but I put in some standard sized bearings and they are definitely wrong (all kinds of slop). Does anyone know what the standard measurement (crankshaft rod bearings) on a 1983 4100 are?
