Default odometer reading

Does the odometer in my '76 deville one of the types where you have to add one digit to it to get the miles? did i explain that right? Cuz my caddy says 81,975 miles on it and i was wondering if it was one of those dumb ones instead of the kind where you dont have to add that one digit for the actual miles?

Ok I checked the owners manual and it didnt indicate ANYTHING about adding a digit. so i guess its the actual mileage gauge. The mileage gauge is only 5 digits wide too.

Do you mean like the 10ths at the end? Your car will read to 99,999 and then turn.

Yeah I just realized that 5 minutes agoit only goes to 99,999 miles then rolls over lol. I feel like an idiot about it. But I am gona have to ask the guy who I got it from and see how many miles the guy before him put on it.

No worries mate. Look in the collections forum "cars of the 50's and 60's," turn up the sound. Those cars had the tenths on the end, so it's not like it never was................
