Headlamps and lights flicker
On my 96 Eldorado, there is a noticable flickering of the headlights and dashboard lights. They seem to pulse at a rate of about 3-4 times per second, independant of engine RPM. The car otherwise runs and drives beautifully, and displays no other symptoms that I have noticed. I would suspect a possible alternator problem if change in RPM affected this. Could it be a problem with the voltage regulator, or whatever passes for one on these cars? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. |
RE: Headlamps and lights flicker
I experienced this same thing about 6 months back on my '97 STS. Lights flickering all over and no noticeable change with rpm - after about a month of that the alternator died completely. Voltage regulator is built into alternator. I replaced it with an all new alternator (not remanufactured). No more flicker.
