Default Fuel Pump Issue

I have a 2000 Escalade that has been giving me trouble with the fuel pump for the last year. I have had it replaced by an authorized dealer 4 times and it still has problems. It seems sometimes when I fillthe tankall the way up and drive home about a mile it won't start the next time I try to start it.I noticed the fuel pump isn't running when I turn the key into the run position.I have it towed into the dealer and sometimes just the rocking motion will fix the problem but sometimes it won't. The have checked connections all over and replaced the pump 4 times now since the life of the vehicle. The dealer still thinks it is a bad connection. Does anyone else have a problem like this? Help is needed drastically. I don't think the dealer knows what their doing. HELP!!!

Default RE: Fuel Pump Issue

I just heard from the dealer that this time they plugged into the computer and were able to bypass all controls and turn the fuel pump on. After this was done the truck starts fine. They are trying to mimic the condition again so they can continue troubleshooting the issue with no luck. They even topped off the tank again with no luck. Does anyone know if they truck has any type of sensor on it that will tell the fuel pump not to run? Something like a rollover safety device or anything like that? Any help would be highly appreciated. Thanks!!!

They just replace the main computer on the front fender last monday and it has run fine since. I just filled up friday night, and now it wont start again saturday night. Same thing with the fuel, you cant hear it run when you turn the key on. Does anybody else have any hints on what could be wrong?

Well, the computer wasn't it either. It went out again the next time I filled it up. Noe I took it to a Cadillac dealer and they said the 4 prong connector that plugs the fuel pump into the wiring harness needs to be replaced each and every time the fuel pump is replaced. I guess the connector heats up and looses connection after a while. They said this is a known problem and all they had to do is squeeze the connection and it fired right up. Hopefully this fixes it.

I feel your pain, My GMC, and your Cadillac is identical, has had Chronic sending unit and fuel guage problems since new. I have had three sending units in 7 years. GM paid for two me one. Good luck with the repair. I know it gets frustrating but mechanics shake their heads too at the things that go wrong. So hard to diagnois these days and intermittent problems are the worst. I'm learning though that bad elelctrical connections are often the source of these type of here today gone tomorrow problems. Was the case with the blower motor in the GMC as well, ground plug was bad.
