Hey Bro: Found a few more specs for your engine in some of my old manuals. Here we go,Dist. dwell is 30 degrees, point gap is 0.016 , timing is 5B. Also on your running rich problem, make sure that your choke is unloading after the engine gets warm. On my previos reply I forgot to mention the float setting will be 7/32. Try these things, if you need more adjustment specs for that carb. I have them. Good luck.

thanks for the info my dwell is 25deg and the timing is around 10 to 11 above i think?
on the timing mark you have a 0 then 5 then 10 marks from drivers side to pasanger it is just past the 10 and on the carter carb there are 2 small screws and 1 big one in the middle what is the middle one foe and what are the settings on those i adjusted the flotes to 3/8and it helped but wont idle smooth entil 1000 to 1200 rpms

Hey eye poppin: You still might be a little rich on the float adjustment. You should have aa air adj. screw, a fuel adj. screw, and a idle speed adj. screw. Only do carb. adjustments if you know that the engine is in tune. All settings to factory specs. Turn your air and fuel screws in all the way until they seat gently., then back them out about 6 turns and starts the engine to do your final adjustments by going clockwise 1/4 turn at a time until optimum idle is reached. The choke should be held to the full open position and the engine should be warm. You could also try opening your points gap a little which will change your dwell slightly. Chow for now, D. What is the status of your fuel pump? Lots of pressure.?
