ASEMTech 's 1998 ETC cracked TB - Throat Body
ORIGINAL: ASEMTech
If anyone has a good, used throttlebody for a 1998 Eldorado ETC Northstar that they want to sell, please let me know. Bought a Eldorado and the previous owner said that the caddy dealership cracked the TB when they replaced headgaskets on car last year. The really funny thing is that the "tech" tried to epoxy it back together. It's cracked and as you could imagine it's creating a real problem with the engine management system. Any help would be appreciated in locating a used on.
Thanks

Do you have the repair shop bill? How long ago?
Maybe slowroll can shed some light on this EPOXY thing.
Epoxy is a techs solution for many things that break. I would suspect some how T/body had an unexpected encounter with the floor or used as pry point and broke. Some shops including dealers will make techs pay for accidents. Therefore techs will try to cover up "stuff".Why?, If a tech has a job that he will make 40.00 and he accidently screws up and ruins a 400.00 part a believes he will have to pay for it.More often than not he is going try fix it some how without acknowledging what happened. Sometimes no one notices - car performs as designed and sometimes not. Usually shop will make it right and then deal with tech when these things come to light. As far as locating used T/body 96-99 vin 9 STS,ETC,Concours T/body should work. When you find one it should look not like its been sitting out in the weather.
Well, I'm sure the throttle body I sent you is not cracked and right now on your vehicle... You assured me you would send me a check for $50 plus my shipping cost. Is this going to be one of those "check's in the mail" deals? I guess I will scan and post receipt where I sent the item to you through priority mail. This is a quote from your email "I WON"T STIFF YOU FOR THE MONEY". It's just a total of $58.95, it's not about the money, it's the principle.
