Default Air Cond. Problem, 2001 SLS

I have a 2001 SLS with 57,000 miles on it. I recently developed a problem where the driver side air runs hot all the time - it makes no difference whether I set the temp controller at 60 or 90 deg. The passenger side air cond/heaterseems to run okay. Also, itthe compressoris working, and the pressure is okay. Here are a couple codes I was able to get:
IPC: U1016
IRC: U1000 History
TTM: V1016
I have a 1200 mile trip scheluded for 4/29/08 with my wife and I'd hate to have to travel that far with the windows down, especially at 70 mph. I sure would appreciate it if someone could help me out.
Thanks, Poppy101

Poppy101 thanks for your time upfront. I have a similiar problem, only it is the passenger side that is not getting cold. Driver side is cold. Did you get your problem resolved? If so, can you give me some guidance? Thanks in advance....justtalkin.

found these .. let me know if this was it ...

=====================

ORIGINAL: 2000ESC

My 2000 ESC climate control system is putting hot air out of the driver's side vents and cold air out of the passenger side vents. It makes no difference if the system is in "Auto" or "Manual". When I change the temperature setting, it does change the output temperatures but this "split" is still present. Cycling the passenger side controls also has no effect.

Any ideas as to what may be causing this problem?
ORIGINAL: remius21

same thing happen to me and i took out the glove box and i found that the mechanism controlling the vent had malfuctioned . and theres like a lil metal control arm that attached to it that opens or closes to control the air mixture

If you take the glove box out there is an electric motor on the air distribution box. chances are this is the problem pretty easy to replace yourself and some aftermarket companies make them.....

Poppy101 thanks for your time. Just curious if you found a solution to your hot/cold air problem. If so, I be interested in knowing the outcome. Thanks, again.

Here is the solution that I found **READ ALL B4 TRYING**

A1. check freon presure first (perferably with a cheep checker single guage)

1. Drop steering colom & remove dash 4.5 HOURS

2. remove all 3 actuators and then test them. then check that the doors
manually open & shut

3. cycle threw all the modes on the temp control panel while watching the doors open & close

4. stuff rags in the left vent and feel for any change in temp

5. stuff rags in right vent and feel for change

6. take a 2 hour break to clear your head from the frustration

7. repeat steps 2 threw 6 just be shure

8. give up for the evening ( cussing & drinking will help get this off your mind for the night)

9. repeat step 3 several times & now add the rear seat temp panel

10. get on line and spend some time researching others problems

11. add 1 can of freon

12 spend the rest of the day putting the dash & colom back together
