Default after market -Gauge lighting? 1987 Coupe DeVillle

I want to power thebulbs on 2 gauges I installed. I'd like these bulbs to dim, but the dash lighting is controlled by the BCM and I don't want to mess with that. I can power them through the headlight circuit, but that won't dim them. Suggestions welcome, thanks.

Also: The FSM&BSM have the letters ASM in the depiction-photos. Anyone know what ASM refers to?

ASM many times is assembly. I think the easiest place would be to tie into the gray wire at ashtray connector.
