98 STS radiator and heater problem
I have read everything I can find and still am not sure. I have two problems, and I feel like they are propably related because they both started about the same time.
My heater is not working, it blows air fine out of all vents but only cold air. My heater hose going into the heater core is hot and the other hose is not, so I feel like I need to replace the heater core. I have tried to remove the hoses at the heater core but being in such a tight space I can not break the hoses lose after I get the clamps off, does anyone have any tips or should i remove something in order to remove the hoses? I checked on all data and they do not show to remove anythingother than thehoses, I wanted to remove the hose and try flushing the heater core with a water hose but have so far been unable to do so. I was also wondering if since the fluid is not going through the hoses properly if it could be causing more pressure on the system then normal and there for causing my radiator to leak. I also wanted to know if my heater core is the problem, if I do not fix it right away, and leave my heater turned off will this be ok for my car and not cause any more problems or is the fluid supposed to flow through the heater hoses even when the heater is turned off? If so once I get the heater hoses off the heater core I can connect the two untill I replace the heater core.
I am also losing coolant and the mechanic pressure tested the system and said there was a leak on the passenger side of the radiator. So I put 12 leak stop pelets in the system hoping that would solve the problem, I am still leaking coolant but not as much as I was. The car does not over heat so I am thinking the radiator needs to be replaced to fix the leak. However today I realised I have been way over filling my expansion tank by filling it up all the way to the cap, instead of where the hard to see arrow tells you to fill it to. So I was wondering if me overfilling the expansion tank has caused any of these probems and I hate to replace both the radiator and the heater core if one of them is causing both problems.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I am very frustrated with the car and unfortunaltly prety broke so I can not afford to have a mechanic fix it.

I talked to a mechanic at the cadillac shop today he said that it did not sound like a bad heater core, he thought it was something else, but didnt really say what he wanted me to bring it in. Any ideas on what it could be other than a bad heater core, maybe some type of cilenoid or something that is stuck closed? Im really not sure but since I know for sure my radiator has a prety good leak I did order a new radiator today. So now just need to get the heater fixed.
well there are a few threads on blend doors (the one that swaps from cold to heat). There are 3 blend doors behind the glove box from my reading. If i read it right you can pull the glove box out and the should be towards the center of the car, with the box out, see if they turn/move? I would suspect your door is set to cold and is not moving to heat.
