97 STS: anti-theft malfunction

half the time, my car wont start because the anti-theft system disables the car and makes me wait 3 minutes to restart. sometimes it takes an hour before it restarts. and sometimes the anti theft doesnt affect me at all when i try and start the car. im wondering if it is the ignition switch or what? i have a remote start and even that is disabled sometimes too so im not sure the problem is in the steering column. i tried a different key in case it was a worn out key but neither works. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

well easy way
take a meter measure your key resistor

there is a 2 white wires from the ignition switch to a big box usual in an orange case together (its a thin wire) this wire feeds the theft control unit

what u do is cut this wire and put resistors in .( the problem with this is there is no more starter disable )

the other fix is to replace the ignition switch

or if u look u will probably see where the wire breaks where the steering wheel tilts and u can fix it there

its a hard fix not a lot of room for movement since the wire rotates with the key turning
