96 Cadillac AC not working
I have a seville and the ACcompressor is not starting so that I can charge the system. The Haynes manual tell me to temporarily direct wire the compressor to get it started. Can anyone tell mehowto do that.
I took the car to firestone and they suggested thatI take the car to a dealer. They basically did not have a clue on how torecharge the system. Theyeven told me that they charged the system without the compressor working andthe system still would not turn on. Not sure if they can charge the system without the compressor working. They did not furnish any codes or anything. However, they did charge 40 bucks to look at it and tell me to take it to the dealer.
Anyway, can you HELP!

Most GM cars I have had have a low pressure cut off switch located on the suction line. I would look on the dryer (Alum. looking cylinder left hand side by the fire wall). It should have a plug looking device attached to the a/c line. This switch cuts off power to the compressor when the gas is low. Unplug the wiring plug from the switch. A small jumper wire can be installed into the wireing harness once it is removed from the switch. Did you find the reason for the loss of freon?Good Luck
