hello i have a 95 sls 4.6,i ran the scaner it pulled a code 39,my question is they said the solonoides in the trans are bad,can anyone tell me what i need to replace or wich ones to replace?it has a solid 1st gear a kinda jerkie 2nd 3rd an overdrive,at 45 miles an hr,.after that it is smoth and gets about 30 miles to the gal.the tach is a little jumpi at that speed.the trans was replaced about 1 an a half years ago.an where can i find a diagram of the trans valve body.

Code 39 relates to TCC, however it can have multiple causes. What you are describing sounds like the converter clutch is stuck on. Solenoid is behind side cover, you need to get FSM - Powertrain Volume. Try e-bay,craigslist,..etc... both books if you can. You also can subscribe to alldata.com

I think you need more diagnosis before taking trans apart. You could try Lucas additive it seems to be very popular here. It's possible it could free what is stuck. How long was car on the road after trans was repaired? It's possible something else is the cause related to the previous repair. You don't want take trans apart until all diagnosis leads to a internal fault, once it's apart you won't be able to run some tests.
