93 STS Running very rich

Help, I have a 93 Seville STS with the Northstar 160k. It is running very rich all of a sudden.I thought it was just a plugged Cat since it was glowing, It's running so rich it has the new Cat glowing underneith the car. I found that I had a leaky injector so I replaced that one. the car is still running super rich. I'm down to 10mpg. the codesall show history, the only current code is t037 lr speed sensor. I tried clearing codes by disconnecting the battery & removing the ecm fuses, but the same codes are there when I hook the battery up,(severalhistory codes, and the 1 current code). I noticed that when I lift the fuel rail nothing comes out of the fpr but fuel squirts out ofthe other tube (next to the wire harness) . Idont knowwhat it's called. Question -- could it be the fuel pressure regulator that's causing fuel tosquirt from that other line? Other than running rich, & burning up my Cat it runs great. Help!!! Thank you

RE: 93 STS Running very rich

not familiar with the N*, but an engine is an engine and
a ECM is a ECM.

read on ..

wet or black with soot means rich fuel mixture,
you may also exerience smoke upon start up and very rought idle.

not sure this applies anywhere here but i had my 4x4 with a simialr problem
and after months of testing i found a bad sensor -- of all things, the coolant
sensor was dead
and the ECM interpreted that as the engine being cold and
enriched the mixture. $20 later with new sensor all back as it should.

its gets too much fuel the plugs are wet ?

The temperture sensor seems to be ok. I get a correct reading. I have checked all other fuses to no avail. Is there a way to test the Fuel Pressure Regulator on this car?

i know you can check the pressure of the fuel delivery ..
fuel presuure gauges at auto parts stores not so expensive.

the regulator? i have no idea how to check those

also, a fuel injector may be stuck partially open?

until this day, i was not aware that in '93, the N* had found its way to other models
besides the Allanté. ElDorados are confirmed as now you show the STS.
thanks

I havea 93 Seville STS --and I am definately sure that ithas to Northstar Engine in it. I have had a few caddy's in the past. Iam 100% sure that this engine with the bigaluminum plenum is theN* -- besides my other 92 Deville has the 4.9. I have just purchased 8 new fuel injectors -- hopefully this will cure the car from running so rich - otherwise it still runs great.

RE: 93 STS Running very rich

there is confussion on the '93 models for reports of N* engines.

based on your original post, i went on a search and found that some '93 ElDorados
also had the N*.

i'm still trying to figure out when in '93 the N* showed up on other models.
sorry about that ..

editing my post above to correct ..
