Default 2001 STS water leaking (A/C)??

Hello,

I have a Right Hand Drive STS (I'm in the UK) and the other day I noticed a large (maybe a large glassful size) amount of cold water pouring out of the front left of the car (just in front of the left wheel) as I returned home after a drive. I didn't have the A/C on at all at the time.

I pulled back the plastic cover under the front left guard and noticed there's a black plastic tank up there. This felt wet so I'm guessing it's the source.

Is this some kind of auto-purge feature? I've never seen a car lose water that fast, normally with A/C you might get a small puddle under the car but not like this.

Does anyone know anything about this/had similar problem?

I've looked over the owners manual and can't even find reference to this mystery water tank.

Thanks very much, Jason.

Not sure what tank is at this point, what your discribing would not be abnormal depending on humidity if a/c was on. Does car have sunroof?, any rain lately?

A/C wasn't on at the time and car doesn't have sunroof. I am going to try and get more info on this tank up under the left front guard.

The secondary air injection pump is located in front of the tire and behind the left front wheel well splash guard. If your tank has a hose going to the exhaust system, that is what it is.

Check your onboard diagnostics for trouble codes P0410, P0412, P0418 or other related DTCs.

Inspect the exhaust port. It should be clean. If there is an indication of exhaust gas, replace the check valve.

Check the hoses for leaks using soapy water.

Thanks, I will investigate this - but how do you get water coming out of an airpump, or is it a condensation type of situation?

It could be supply air condensation. P=nRT.

It is more likely exhaust condensation due to a bad check valve.
