2000 Deville base model no start
The security light flashes when I try to start the car and there is no sound of a fuel pump and the starter doesn't even try to kick. I have disconnected the battery for fifteen minuites and tried again. I have also tried many combinations of unlocking and locking the doors to include activating the panic button on the key fob. It was fine when I parked it and now de-nada... please help I have work in a few hours...

it threw a bunch of codes faster than i could write them... pcm p0171 1860 0174 0335 0336 0340 0341... irc v1301 ipm b1004 ipc b1004
right now the problem u r having is the security light, first make sure battery is fully charged and the connection are good
after u do this try to start the car , turn to crank and let key go back to the position as if the car started leave it there for 10- 15 minutes the security light should stop flashing turn off vehicle and then try restarting it
Ty i will do this now
ok...
Battery was wrong size all together got a new battery and installed... no security light inappropriately but no start... have just started without starting the car and left KO for the 10-15 min you mentioned
it didn't work
clean all codes
so no security light when u put key in does it go on then off |
if the code b1004 does not leave then module is no good
phew
Ok today I went and got a new key cut... after the three key on key off cycles to program the car to the key, the dash display said "starter disabled" ???
i did clear all the codes before i programed the new key
are u using the on board system to check for codes or using a code reader
u did the three 12 minutes relearn then turned off vehicle then tried to start and no go is the security light on or off after u turn the key does it stay on sometimes doing it the way u did it does not always take it the first time |
Im using the onboard reader... the security light is acting as it should now... not on when the key is in the ignition... after the third cycle it volunteered that the starter was disabled in the display... i am trying the three cycles again...
and there is a clicking noise now when the tumbler is moved to the start position... but still no start... could it be the theft deterent module... by the by i did a onboard code read today and the AMP, IPM, IPC and RCC circuits all report a b1004 code current...
im sorry the rcc was b1009
