Default 2 Questions (3 really)

1) Is it true that Dex Cool creates corrosion issues in our beloved Northstars(?) And, if so, what is better?

2) Is it possible to access the transaxel filter on a 2001 Eldorado by simply dropping the pan?

Thanks to all.

Dexcool was changed years ago because it would breakdown and turn to sludge. Main thing is to change coolant on time Dexcool before its 5 years old or if car overheats. Green coolant before its 2 years old.

Re-useable screens are behind lower transmission pan. There is a filter behind side cover that is replaced if repairs require side cover to be removed. It's not a maintenance part.

Many thanks for the reply, Slowroll.
When you refer to "re-usable screens" I assume these get cleaned with gas, carb cleaner or similar solvent prior to being re-installed. I guess a new gasket would be a good ideal also when changing fluid. Good to know I don't need a filter.

Thanks again.

Slowroll. I forgot to ask where the radiator cap is on these. I don't see one off the top. Are these filled via the surge tank?

Thank you.
