Default 1998 Deville load leveller question

I have a 1998 Deville, and over the past couple months the load levellers seem to be dying. Sometimes when back seat is full it doesn't lift up (and it bottoms out when pulling out of driveways), and recently there is a terrible rattling sound coming from the rear end. The upside is when the rattling does happen the car does lift up, but when the rattling doesn't occurthe car doens't lift up to the normal driving position. Is there an inexpensive fix anyone can suggest? A freind suggested seeing if it were possible to put in some air shocks that would be filled up manually with an air hose at the gas station. Thank you for any help you mayoffer!!!

The compressor is very accessible in that car, drivers side rear behind the lower quarter panel, a black box.

can I get a replacement from a wrecker, or is this something I should get from a dealer?

I would check at the wrecker as well. The dealer will have a new GM part which will likely be very expensive but why not call and ask.

oops, I never saw the link, I will be buying it off there. The dealership wanted $1,100.00 and $288.00 if it was a relay, and of course installation and taxes would be extra. This is the dealership who wanted that much. Thanks to you all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
