Default 1991 Cadillac Sedan Deville engine chugging

ive changed plugs cap rotor EGR valve from a 1990 engine(one of the codes said the EGR was bad) the only error code that has come up recently was the AC unit needs to be recharged, ill be checking it later today.

when i try to start the car hot/cold it will chug a bit, sometimes die but starts again and still chugs, push the gas a little while in drive going down the road it will roll along and seem like its fighting the transmission to shift(one of the nastiest feelings you could have driving down the road other then an actual big sputter), if you push the gas harder it will actually shift fine but still feel like a drag is still there.

my father says it could be the O2 sensor, i was planning on changing this but ive recently had surgery and cant work on my car at this time.

wondering what could be the problem

it was mostly the timing apparently, went to look at it again changed the O2 sensor and tapped a bit on the distributor and its working much better, actually takes off like its supposed to, just a new error code coming up E28 = Open third or Fourth Gear Circuit or Shorted 2-3 / Shift solenoid VCC, CRUISE what does this mean ? or what can i do to fix it

lets not get exited on the shift solenoid, at least not yet.
clear the codes and see what you get afterward.

i checked them just before i started and it was only the AC needs service, after it was running alot better i took it for a 30min drive abouts and checked the codes when i got back and it came up with E28, ill clear and check again tho.

the 2 wires for the O2 sensor on the manifold look the same as the one for the Transaxle, we were slightly pulling on it cause we thought it was the one but not enough to do any dmg to it.

could it be that the wire was too close to the manifold and is grounding out on it?

i dont think its blown any fuses i've checked all the normal fuses driver side and passenger side under the "hush panel"
