cadillac stalls, intermittent, eghosts / connectors ?
Hi im new here. I have a 99 deville and im having trouble with the car stalling. When it stalls i pull the ing 1 fuse out put it back in and the car fires back up but it will not stay running that long. I think that controls the electronic ignition module. Could that be going bad or is in my ecm? Any help would be appreciated.

Stalling......
Some things to check, full filter, temp.sensor connection or sensor, not sure if you have the idle air compensator solenoid on that model year, if you do that can cause stall. Crank sensors, ignition connections. Good luck.

I dont think its a crank sensor there is no check engine light. When it starts and runs for about 5-10 min I hear a stumble right before it shuts off, then I'll either pull the ing 1 fuse or the dis fuse and it will fire back up. Im wondering if it is the ignition module or the ecm because the dis is the module fuse. Do not want to bring it to the dealer!

crank sensors dont always set engine codes
does the car run when does it stall |
Yes the car runs. Ive had it stall while driving. Pull the dis fuse for the ignition module and starts right back up. Very weird now car is running fine for the last few days.

Forgot to say i pulled all the connectors off the ignition module after writing first post and the car has been running fine dont know if its a fluke will see what happens.

sounds like a connector problem .. it may well return .. read e-ghots thread in our FAQ ... did you apply dielectric to the connectors? . |
No i did not but i will put some grease on the connectors. There is one thing i dont understand is why when this was happening i would pull the dis fuse out and then put it back and the car would start. Hmmmm very confusing. Thank you for your help.

Put grease on connections worked fine for a couple of days but still have problems. Tested to see if i have power at the ignition module when this happens and i do then i pull the fuse for the dis put back in and the car starts. Im so confused why this is happening. Ignition module problems or ecm?

any codes ?
use the in car to check unless u have a tech 2 |
p1599
|
ok have u replcae the crank sensors????
or have u replaced the ignition module u have a choice or get a scan tool and look at live data then u can pin it down more |
I have a ignition module coming today. See what happens. Thank you for your help. By the way it will be a used 1 cant see myself spending 350 for a new 1 to see if that is the problem.
|
Well just replaced ignition module took it down the road 2 miles and shut off. Pulled the dis fuse car ran for 2 mins and then stalled again. Im at my witts end with this car it only has 62k on it. The only code is p1599.

these vehicles are known for crank sensors
if u have a fuel pressure gauge drive with it hooked up see if u r losing fuel pressure |
I cant keep it running long enough to check. Last time it stalled was this morning warming the car up. Left it in driveway took my truck to work came home 4hrs later and the car started, ran for about 3 mins and shut off again. So im leaning towards ckp sensor. Been doing alot of reading on this and i think you are right. Going to change sensors. Let you know the outcome. GRRRRRRRRRR

So far so good, been 3 days and still running. But it ran for 3 weeks straight after the first couple of incidents of stalling. Hope it was the crank sensors if not im running it off a cliff and collecting the insurance money!

Well the car died once again on me at a traffic light this morning(not good). Got it running again pulling the fuse and then got to work. I had a little free time this morning dug deeper into the car and found a bad connection in the fuse panel for the injectors and the main hot lead for that fuse block. Repaired the wires and so far its running. Go figure!

man thats gota hurt the ego abit. i mean you spend money and think its fixed and it was a bad cennection. i hate when its something as little as that and it trickes you into thinking its a bigger problem.
ive went thru this crap with adodge neon blowing the fuel pump fuse and put in a new fuel pump and still kept blowin. come to find out it was the wire harness for the injectors and fuel system had rubed on the engine and wore untill the wire was exposed and was grounding out. well hope your troubles are over |
Well Daddylac car is running great! Thank you for your input bro and to you also gmtechs.
