So my 2015 started riding like crap, so I took it into my local Cadillac dealership for a looksee and maybe a repair. Was told that the drivers side rear shock had lost all it's fluid and recommended changing out both. OK, so that made sense as to why it was such a lousy ride. The air suspension kept it off the ground but did nothing to smooth out the ride. But the quote for parts and labor was $1746.
Before going to the dealership I was educating myself on costs. Turns out that Rockauto was selling the OEM GM rear shocks for $290 and $265 each (the dealer over $600 each). Why one side costs more than the other I have no clue. There was also a brand on Amazon called Arstak. Never heard of them and can't find out much about them. They say that they are German made ,,,,,,, that's good, with some special Japanese NOK oil seal technology. I suppose that's good too.
Anyway, the right rear and left rear shocks was an even $300 from Amazon, got them in the mail Monday and the bolts from the parts department today. Apparently the two lower bolts are one time only use bolts and must be replaced when replacing the shocks, they were $15 from the parts department. If it doesn't rain tomorrow I'm going to install them. Total cost is $315, the dealership quote was $1746. ......................... and you were wondering why I'm doing it myself. Anyone ever hear about this brand of magnetic shock?
