Can anyone give me an idea on the cost of the extended warranties.
I'm not sure if this is where dealers make up pricing
It comes with 4 yrs. I asked for 2 additional yrs, he said $1200.
Seems very high

 

Extended warranty pricing is effected by model, and deductible and coverage. deductibles range from 0 to 200. Coverage from internally lubricated parts (waste of money) to just short of bumper-bumper pretty much all non maintenance parts. GM will sell you extended warranty up until car goes out of the base factory warranty; so you could wait until the last month or 1 k miles. If you are going to keep car get the warranty if you want something different it would be time to trade.

 

Ended up with a Mechanical Breakdown warranty from Geico, it just added $14.50 per six months on top of insurance. That way if I decide to trade it in, no big loss. They will cover it up to 7 yrs.
