Default Which manual for Northstar engine?

I have an 1996 V-8 Cadillac Northstar which needs a cam shaft replacement.

This would be the one with the water pump drive pulley on it, closest to the vehicle front, near the radiator.
The shaft was snapped off just where it enters the valve cover when the water pump drive pulley was being pulled off of the cam shaft.

I am trying to find a service manual for this type engine, Haynes does not seem to have one in print under the name NorthStar.

Which manual available would best fit this engine.

The only Cadillac manuals I see out there are for rear axle type engines.

This engine is a front wheel drive type engine.

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Bruce.

Thanks for your reply.

The major problem I am faced with is this Cadillac I am working on is an SLS 32V V-8 NorthStar.

As you can see I am posting under the STS forum, because there is none for the SLS.

I see a lot of reference to the Deville, Seville and Fleetwood as far as service manuals go.

Why is there such a lack of information on the Cadillac SLS DOHC 4.6 liter Northstar with FWD?

Exactly which Cadillac Model would have the same exact engine and specs as the SLS Northstar 32V V-8 DOHC engine?

This is where I am stumped, as I need the GM recommended dis-assembly and reassembly procedures and torque specs.

Otherwise I could very well create even bigger problems using the wrong specs.

Any suggestions would be great and appreciated.

Bruce.

Isn't the Cadillac SLS a long wheelbase version of the American Cadillac STS Sedan, marketed in the Asian Market, same engines?

We used to have a 2000 LHD SLS and now have a 2001 RHD STS.

As far as I know, the only difference is in the engine tune (ECU and camshaft) - the SLS has a slightly lower power output (275 hp) than the STS (300 hp), but produced at slightly lower revs. with slightly more torque .... so theoretically the SLS doesn't need to be revved as much as an STS, but might be marginally slower at the limit.

Personally I haven't noticed any difference between the two cars when driving them.
