Codes C1298 and U1040 - 2003 STS

Codes C1298 and U1040 - 2003 STS
The Traction Control warning light is on, so I downloaded the error codes and got these 2:
C1298 - The readout says "Powertrain Control Module, Class 2 Serial Data Link Malfunction"
U1040 - on the download, it says "Loss of ECBM / EBTCM communication
I will take my car into the dealership for these, but don't want to get hosed.
Can anyone tell me what these are and what to expect, so I can follow what they dealer's rep tells me?
