1999 Seville SLS code C1242
I have a 1999 Seville SLS and after you drive it for a while the service stability system display appears, the traction control light comes on and the ABS light comes on. When you turn thre car off and restart the lights go out and may not come on until 30 minutes of driving. The AAmco trans shop scanned the computer and gave me the code. How do I find the ground fault, wher do I look. Also this started happenning afte I had the antifreeze flushed at the Cadallic dealership. It also looks like the water pump started leaking or somthing is dripping since they flused the antifreeze.
I also noticed that when the traction control light is on the card will not go into first gear or downshift into first, is this operating as designed.
Looking forward to some help in getting to the root cause of this issue.

RE: 1999 Seville SLS code C1242
Code relates to abs pump motor.Ground wire attach to core support and bracket on drivers side of rear head. Coolant leak can be a big deal if coolant if is leaking onto / into etbcm connector.Have you been back to dealer who flushed cooling system? If you have little automotive knowledge you may better to take it qualifed repair shop. Code should not dissable 1st gear.Good grounds are tight and free of corrosion.

RE: 1999 Seville SLS code C1242
I brought my car to the Cadallic dealership Saturday. they sat they see 10 codes in the computer. It is still at the dealer. But on the way I did not get the failure. When it fails the Service Stability light up on the dashm the ABS light comes on and the traction control light comes on. When these three lights come on if you press full throttle from a dead stop it will start in second gear. Aslo if you press full throttle it will not go into first gear. Sa far the cadillac mechinac is having a hard time he is using his techsupport and charging me 101.00 per hour. Where exactly is the C1242 ground. i would like to ask them to check this. The car was running fine on saturday. i don't want them to chase any Red Herings. Is there a way for them to clear out all the codes? Which code would most like lead to the root cause, would it be the first ones that comes into the computer.
Thanks

Hi. Im having the same problem. I already replaced the BPMS motor and still have the same 3 lights on.
Where is this stud on the rear drivers side of the head with the black ground wire that this guy is reffering too? I looked everywhere and cant find it. Im so aggravated with this problem.
