Default Allante PACE cars: speedway cars .. parade cars

Not a trick question, but surely it is controversial, specially when some seller makes
the claim that he is selling one such car.

Between the "parade" cars and the "Pace cars" we got two different questions.

Officially, we know TWO PACE cars were submitted to the Indy mgt, but lots of rumors about a 3rd car
that has yes to be identified beyond doubt .. something that gets more difficult with each passing year.
One is at the Cadillac Museum the other owned privately.

The "parade" cars, your guess is as good as mine.

Only the PACE cars were fully equipped to run the INDY track. The two I know about, were at
the track on race day. Why two? They were not allowed to refuel. Second car was not needed,
so only one of the two actually run abreast the Indy cars, only one of the two.

These two had the Indy light bars, safety equip, 5 point seat belts, center console controls,
and custom ECM Chips.

Earlier, in '06, a car fitting these PACE car descriptions was parted and crushed by a salvage yard that
does GM subcontracting to destroy vehicles. Again, we dont know if that was the 3rd Pace car or
another candidate built for the race.

I call what are called parade cars speedway cars. Since they were there and are normally special build to be flawless in every way, as opposed to replicas with a regular production. The car stripped of decals lost them during the summer of 92 sold as new car with less than 100 miles. Maybe it was a factory built copy. Years later nascar parade cars came to the same dealer no decals or the few autographes were removed till cars where sold. It was the buyers choice. There were still only 33, are any left?

we cant find a VIN record of which cars were used.

If you can shed some light on the VIN records, I can sure shed some light
on the survivors.

Not long ago I noticed a white '93 on sleezBay that was advertised as a "Parade Car" - I don't think it sold, so it probably will be back - we will have to see if it is one of the ones slowroll is speaking of... Can they be different colors than the "Pearl Red" of the Pace Car?

As far as I know at this time, Cadillac did not give indy cars an RPO. Granted I just started looking in to it. I would expect at all cars to have 1 order number, and to be identical. Possible RPOs B46, SEO, 6Y1, V4J. 93 Allante was mid year intro paint code 84 wa 9976 color was new for 93. I think a may spend a little time and see what I can find.

Fox,

for all we know, your RED could be one of them.

slowroll,

I dont even know if all , most or any of these "parade" cars were
released for-sale to the public. Someone that knew much of these
facts choose to take the info with him to his grave. There was some
talk about fears of having dis-honest folks "counterfeit" the cars with
the knowledge of the VINs. Dont ask. IMO, Ilogical.
