Default She said "I am sooo sorry, my foot slipped"

She said "I am sooo soddy, my foot slipped" .. we had just pulled over and were looking at the cars .. at least she was .. I was more concentrating on my 88 Stealth, bruised.

. . . . .

The time was 4:45 pm, as I cruised down Main St, the sun was quite blinding, shining at center line on the windshield .. came to a red light .. stopped .. then ... SLAMMM CRASHHH !

The Rear view mirror fell off, there I am, trying to look back in the blinding sun, and what do I see? A grey jelly bean car.

I pull over, the jelly bean Nissan follows - I was ready for a "pursuit" .. but there was not to be one, not this time.

Older Hindu lady, very apologetic, starts telling me "I am soo soddy .. my foot slipped" .. "do not worry, we are nice people" .. "we have insurance" .. .. .. WOW .. a driver with insurance, something that is becoming a rarity in this State; a driver that is civil and not making threats .. the stars are with me today.

The Stealth bumper is bruised, all else seems fine .. Cadillac dealer body repair shop states that the cost of repairs may not be economical .. insurance is considering "totaling" the car. from 10 ft, I can barely notice the bruise, but then my eyesight is not what it used to be.

the thing is, she ( 88 Stealth) was to retire last year, but due to my forgetting to pay my insurance on time for the whole car fleet, I had to pay for all the cars again. So she got a 6 month extension on the retirement.

Zal, sorry to hear of yor're 'lil fender bender. Great if they'd give you total money. Would they allow you to but back as a salvage (or whatever Califonia does) title that would allow you to part out the '88.

How's the 92 coming?

I got a meeting next week to hopefully settle the damages on the 88.

the 92 has been in storage .. i just cant seem to get to it and get her what I consider "road worthy".
i must have driven her only 500 miles since she arrived .. not much.

they decided that car could be fixed .. as soon as one found a rear bumper ($2K) .. duhhh!
At 10 feet I cant see the crack .. then again, i'm half blind ...

ins company gave me a check, do as I please thay said .. and .. if any more damage is found within the impact, call them and they would adjust the check for more.

I have chosen to use the money to help the American financial melt down improve .. by making next months mtg payment to the financial institution, two weeks in advance.
